Bruce B. Dunn is an accomplished freelance trumpeter. He is an active member of the AFM Local 99 and can be heard in venues across the Northwest.

Mr. Dunn has been the Principal Trumpet of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra since 1999. He has performed in many groups across the region including the Oregon Symphony, the Columbia Symphony Orchestra, the Portland Opera, The Big Horn Brass, The Portland Festival Symphony, The Bach Cantata Choir , Symphony Tacoma and countless others. Mr. Dunn can be heard playing piccolo trumpet on “The Messiah: An Oratorio” recorded and produced by Bravo! Vancouver Orchestra and Chorale in December 1999. Mr. Dunn is also co-founder of the Columbia River Brass Ensemble.

In addition to his performance life, Mr. Dunn is a National Board Certified Teacher and the Director of Bands at Covington Middle School, Sunset Elementary and Silver Star Elementary in Evergreen Public Schools. Mr. Dunn has also taught at Evergreen High School, Mt. View High School and Pacific Middle School.

Fundamentals

Mr. Dunn is fundamentally trained in many styles. He is at home performing music in an orchestral setting, chamber ensembles, jazz bands, baroque music and piccolo trumpet, rock and funk to name a few. As a teacher, Mr. Dunn believes in the fundamental approaches of Sound, Pitch and Rhythm. Without those basics, no one wants to listen.
