Craig Gibson earned a Bachelor of Music Education at Lewis & Clark College in 1981, and a Master of Music in Trumpet with a minor in Music Education at Indiana University in 1987. Since then, Mr. Gibson has enjoyed a dual career as music educator and professional trumpeter.
He has performed with many bands and orchestras in the Portland area and beyond, including the Oregon Symphony Orchestra. Currently Mr. Gibson is Principal Trumpet of the Oregon Coast Music Festival Orchestra, and a member of both the Portland Opera and Sunriver Music Festival Orchestras.
In 1989 Mr. Gibson founded the Columbia Brass, a Chamber Brass Ensemble which regularly performs throughout the Portland area. Mr. Gibson has served as President of the Portland Brass Society – a non-profit music advocacy organization – for the past 15 years, and is in his 30th year as a public school music educator, teaching at West Sylvan Middle School in Portland.
