Big Horn Brass Fall Concert “Bells, Pipes and Pictures” Featuring Jonas Nordwall, Organ Sunday, October 27th, 2024, 3:00 PM Portland First United Methodist Church 1838 SW Jefferson St, Portland, OR

Under the artistic direction of founder Andrew Harris and in collaboration with Organ Virtuoso Jonas Nordwall, Big Horn Brass will provide memorable vibrations throughout Portland’s First United Methodist Church.

This fall concert, conducted by David Bryan, will feature arrangements for Organ and Brass to include compositions by Richard Strauss, Johann Strauss II, Camille Saint-Saën and Richard Wagner. The grand finale will be Modest Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, arranged for brass and percussion by Elgar Howarth.

And just in time for Halloween, the world premier of a new arrangement for brass and organ of Camille Saint-Saëns famous Danse Macabre.

Tickets

Tickets are $35 general admission and $25 for seniors.  Tickets will be available for purchase at the door on the day of the concert, and advance tickets are available online now.

All proceeds go to Path Home.  Path Home empowers families with children to get back into housing and stay there.

Jonas Nordwall

Jonas Nordwall is an internationally renowned virtuoso organist. He has over 25 highly acclaimed recordings on a variety of labels. For over a half century, he has toured the world presenting concerts in churches and performing arts centers. He has served as the organist for Portland’s First United Methodist Church since 1971 and is presently the Artistic Director of Music.

About the Organ
The pipe organ at Portland’s First United Methodist Church is among the most versatile and eclectic pipe organs in the world. It is the largest pipe organ north of San Francisco. The instrument totals 111 ranks with over 7,000 pipes controlled by a four manual console with a Unilex Digital Operating System.
