Lawrence Johnson
Larry Johnson is currently Instructor of Horn at Oregon State University and Staff Conductor for the Portland Youth Philharmonic conducting the Wind Ensemble and the Conservatory Orchestra. He also is President of Music Camps at Wallowa Lake – a nonprofit organization that runs two chamber music programs for young musicians around the Pacific Northwest each summer.
Larry has been Principal Horn of the Philharmonia Hungarica in Germany and Asst. Principal Horn of the Oregon Symphony, and he plays regularly in the Seattle Opera’s production of Wagner’s “Ring Cycle”.
Mr. Johnson has taught at Portland State University, Mt. Hood C.C., Clackamas C.C., and Lewis and Clark College. He has performed with the Oregon Ballet, Portland Opera, Oregon Bach Festival, Cascade Music Festival, Oregon Coast Music Festival, Hong Kong Philharmonic, Charlotte Symphony, Boise Philharmonic, and Seattle Symphony Orchestras.
His Chamber Music credits include: Pioneer Brass, Woodwind Conspiracy, Portland Brass, Ensemble Viento, and Chamber Music Northwest. Mr. Johnson has many recording credits to his name with some of the aforementioned groups and has taken part on numerous movie score, video game, and television recordings.
